Fries Town Council meets the first Tuesday of each month at 7:00PM at the Bingo Hall.
Items of Business at the May 2008 Town Council Meeting:
Garland Lambert presented a petition to Town Council signed by residences on Carroll Drive and adjoining streets about parking on the street at the Main & Carroll Street intersection and the need to extend the "No Parking" yellow line to 40 feet. Markings as they are now are not enough and presents a hazard to people coming onto Main St. off of Carroll St.
Bobby Jones and Council agreed to paint both sides of the curb to 40 feet to try and fix the problem.
Joe Hicks petitioned Council to mow the bank that belongs to the town that adjoins his property. No action was taken on this.
Anyone interested in making a donation to the Fries Pool may make it at BB&T Bank in Fries. They have a separate account just for the pool.
Patching has begun with donations already received and hopes are to open the pool May 23rd.
Discussion was held on the wall that needs repair on Grayson St.
Budget meeting scheduled for May 24, 2008 at 9:00 AM.
Town Council is checking into buying a mower for the waste water treatment plant.
